effective acne treatments
The same medication you used as a teenager may be just as effective for an adult acne medication. You may be one of the many adults that suffer acne long after puberty has faded. However, you don't have to change the over the counter acne medication you used as a teenager if it continues to work fine in adulthood. Lotions with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and sulfur all are useful to treat adult acne. The same is true of natural healing programs. Prescription medication choices though, particularly for antibiotics, have changed over time and may need to be investigated thoroughly before choosing them for your treatment.
Sebaceous glands: Glands in the skin that produce an oily substance called sebum--these glands are the sites of acne lesions Sebaceous glands are attached to hair follicles and are found mostly on the face, neck, back and chest.
Acne is not a sign that you are unclean. It isn't a statement about your hygiene habits. People that wash their face regularly do get acne and some people that don't wash their face have a surprisingly clear complexion. The only time face washing causes an outbreak is when you wash your skin too much, causing it to dry out. Effective Acne Scar Treatment

The choice of a mild cleansing agent is important in the adjunctive management of various skin conditions, such as atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris, rosacea, photoaging, retinoid-induced irritant dermatitis, and sensitive skin There are 3 major categories of cleansing agents: soaps, synthetic detergents, and lipid-free cleansing agents The irritancy potential of cleansing agents is a function of a number of factors, including the pH, type of surfactants, and amount of skin residue Furthermore, the presence of humectants and emollients also can influence the overall mildness of a cleansing agent Agents with slightly acidic or neutral pH, nonionic surfactants, and minimal skin residue may be preferable for people who are at increased risk for irritancy reactions
There are basically four types of acne; whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and nodules. Whiteheads are when the sebum (oil) and resulting bacteria are trapped below the skin’s surface and you can actually see a white head appear above (or near popping out of) the skin. Blackheads are when the sebum and resulting bacteria are only partially trapped, slowly draining out the surface and turning black because of your skin’s melanin or pigmentation. In the absence of either white or blackhead are generally (but not always) smaller pimples. And the often deeper, boil-like lesions are referred to as nodules.
